- Bacteria, harmful insects, animals, plants (and their products), food, drugs, and other articles from epidemic- stricken areas if such articles may be harmful to human beings and animals
- Counterfeit money and forged securities
- Endangered and rare animals and their products
- Film that is exposed but undeveloped
- Firearms, weapons, imitation weapons, ammunition (with prior authorization only)
- Narcotics (including: opium, morphine, heroin, marijuana)
- Pornographic material
- Fresh food (all fruit, tomatoes, eggplant and red peppers)
- Poisons
- Radio transmitters
- Subversive literature, films, tapes, negatives, records, audio and video recordings, laser optical video-discs, computer storage media and other articles containing materials against public order and morality and harmful to China politically, economically, culturally, or ethically
Restricted
- Antiques (should be declared on arrival)
- Bicycles
- Cameras, watches, clocks and their parts and accessories
- Computers and printers
- Cosmetics in large quantities
- Electronic items
- Foodstuffs
- Fresh meat, grains, vegetables - Office supplies
- Pets
- Prescription medicines
- Textiles and fabrics of wool, silk and artificial and synthetic fibers and bedding
